JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man wanted on charges of sexually assaulting a Jacksonville 4-year-old in May and believed to have fled the state was located and arrested last week in Virginia Beach, the U.S. Marshals Office announced on Monday.
Earlier this month, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office asked for help from the U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force for help locating Jeffrey Michael Mitchell, who officials said always wears black clothing and believes he is a vampire.
Federal agents said Mitchell was so consumed with this belief, he capped his teeth so that he would appear as a vampire and referred to himself as "Draven."

Orlando Walmart Credit Card Scam
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A mysterious box with an antenna found hidden inside a Wal-Mart was a planted spy camera set up to beam customer credit card numbers to thieves in the parking lot, police said.

Officers evacuated the Wal-Mart store located on Turkey Lake Road near Sand Lake Road Thursday night after someone noticed the box wrapped in black tape near a counter.

The bomb squad was called to the store and no explosives were found.

Florida College Students Using Food Stamps As Financial Aid

In a down economy, some Florida college students have found a new form of financial aid: food stamps.

The number of Sunshine State students receiving stamps was up 44 percent in July compared to the same time in 2007.

That's about twice the rate of increase for food-stamp recipients in the population as a whole.

Statewide, 54,116 students were receiving the stamps, including 10,506 in Miami-Dade alone. Broward had another 4,311, according to figures from the state Department of Children & Families. Monroe had 51.

The numbers reflect a nationwide trend.

''It's pretty much impossible to get by anymore without some help,'' said John English, a Palm Beach Community College student who has received stamps.

English, 20, said he was in a halfway house when he moved to South Florida from Ohio. And signing up for the stamps wasn't hard.

''I got in easy,'' he said. ``But then I got a job that paid a decent amount, and I couldn't qualify for food stamps anymore.''
