The clothing retail store Abercrombie & Fitch has been getting a lot of bad press lately. Not long ago, comments from the CEO surfaced, saying how his clothes were meant for attractive people, or something to that effect. Now, a judge has ruled the retail store wrongly fired one of its muslim employees for wearing her hijab.
In 2010, Hani Khan was terminated from A&F's Hollister store for wearing her hijab, which is a piece of clothing worn by a Muslim female beyond the age of puberty in the presence of adult males.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit against the retailer on Khan's behalf. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled in favor of Khan, saying that the company violated anti-discrimination laws by firing Khan for wearing her hijab.
