Pugh Denied Bond in Slain Officer Case

Early yesterday morning, an Orange County deputy was killed in the line of duty after responding to a car burglary on Westminster Abbey Boulevard. The Orange County Sheriff's Office identified the slain officer as Jonathan Scott Pine, he was 34.

Benjamin Holtermann has been identified as the shooter in Pine's death and was found dead in the neighborhood with a self-inflicted gunshoot wound. Erica Pugh was taken into custody by officers for questioning; she was allegedly with Holtermann at the time of the shooting.

It was announced today that Pugh was denied bond by county Judge Jerry Brewer, saying her participation in the armed robbery with Holtermann was sufficient enough to leave her in jail. As of now, she faces charges of aggravated assault of a firearm, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary of conveyance. There is no information on whether or not she will face any charges in connection to the murder of officer Pine.
