Just hours before the 9/11 attacks, President Bill Clinton told an Australian audience that he had the opportunity to take out Osama bin Laden; Clinton was in Melbourne speaking at a business meeting when the topic of terrorism came up.
Hours later, the first hi-jacked plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center.
In order to kill bin Laden, however, Clinton would have had to take out an entire town, Kandahar, Afghanistan, killing 300 innocent women and children with him.
“I’m just saying, you know, if I were Osama bin Laden ... He’s a very smart guy. I spent a lot of time thinking about him. And I nearly got him once...
"...And I could have killed him, but I would have had to destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and children, and then I would have been no better than him.
“And so I didn’t do it.”
